 Readers Needed for EAR!

The Everyone’s a Reader program is a simple but effective reading program focused on helping every child to be comfortable and successful as a reader. Fuerte’s favorite volunteer reading tutoring program is looking for some new tutors to help overcome the stumbles in reading that sometimes occur. After being assigned to 4 special kiddos, you’ll read with each of them for 15 minutes a week, for a total of only one hour, one day per week! It seems small, but combined with the other tutors, each child in the program gets an extra hour of reading every week. And since those sessions are one-on-one with an adult, they get your invaluable attention and support.

Family Nights Committee:

Family Nights are back at Fuerte with a twist! We have 4 family nights this school year about each quarter. These events are designed to bring the entire family/community together after 3 years of not being on campus! These events include [grassroots] Round Up, Winter Wonderland, Movie Night and Summer Kick-Off!

Muscles & Trucks:

We need some muscles AND trucks for heavy lifting! We need quite a few people to move props, event stages and other items on our lower field or just to set up our events. These people are key in helping to make our events happen!

Book Fair:

The Scholastic Book Fair is at the end of November. The stage is transformed into a bookstore just in time for the holidays! Children and parents can find wonderful books, educational resources, and other items at reasonable prices.

Traffic Circle:

Parents are needed before and after school to help monitor traffic in the circle and our 5th grade Safety Patrol team on Fuerte Drive. Volunteers are requested to sign up for one morning or one afternoon per week.

SPIRIT Wear:

What better way to have school spirit than to own some Fuerte swag? We need a couple volunteers to help set-up our “swag table” and help manage our gear. A number of school spirit items are available for sale online. T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, mugs, and pencils. Great shirts for our Fuerte Falcon Fridays!

Hospitality:

The PTA hospitality team welcomes teachers at the beginning of each school year with a Back to School luncheon, and later on in the year, Grandparents Appreciation Tea and a Teacher/Staff Appreciation week luncheon/treats. Our hospitality team is a key part of Fuerte!

Running Club:

Running club is back and we need volunteers to make it happen!! Every morning from 7:45-7:55 our 1st-5th grade students are invited to compete and run together on the lower field! We would love for you to be a part of it!
